FESTIVAL PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

Friday: The Festival kicks off at   10:30am  with an extended Writing for Children Workshop, hosted by award winning children’s author Aleesah Darlison at Yeppoon Town Hall.

In the evening, join us for the Official Opening and Welcome to Authors  by Mayor Adam Belot. Enjoy a welcome drink, finger food and live music by local songwriter and musician Kate Mahood. Mix and mingle with our featured Festival writers. A perfect start to Stories by the Sea!

Saturday: The day begins with the Capricorn Coast Student Short Story Competition Winners Announcement  at  8am, followed by an Author Panel  and workshops at Yeppoon Town Hall  from   9am to 4:30pm.  Hear from our panel of acclaimed authors Aleesah Darlison, Richard Yaxley, Geneve Flynn and Lori-Jay Ellis. Take part in workshops, Creating Memorable Characters,  Creating Place, and Creating Conflict and Suspense.  Throughout the day, you’ll have the chance to check out the talents of our region at the  Local Author Expo  and get your books signed!

At 7:00pm it’s  The Truth Behind the Fiction   – An evening with Gary Crew and Jack Roney, hosted by radio personality Dales Whyte. Enjoy canapés and a welcome drink as part of the festivities.

Sunday: From 9:00am to 4:30pm. Hear from bestselling authors Barbara Hannay, Jack Roney, and Gary Crew in an  Author Panel. Take part in their specialised workshops:  Writing Romance  with Barbara Hannay,  Writing Your First Novel  with Gary Crew, and  Writing Crime  with Jack Roney.
